Snakes are perhaps the most feared animals on the planet; ophidio-phobia, the fear of snakes, is second only to arachnaphobia, the fear of spiders. The cliche is true, though, they're more afraid of us than we are of them.
All snakes are carnivorous and cold-blooded. They are usually found in warm areas outdoors, and occasionally accidentally venture inside homes.
Of the dozens of types of snakes in Georgia, only four are venomous: coral snakes, cottonmouths (aka, water moccasins), rattlesnakes, and copperheads, all pictured here.
If you have a snake in or near your home, and are unfamiliar with it, especially if it looks similar to one of the four pictured, call us immediately to remove it. Snakes are very fast, have a very long reach—most can strike at least the same distance as half of their body length—and can strike faster than the human eye can follow. Cottonmouths are particularly dangerous, as they are very aggressive and will chase intruders.
